As responsible members of the community, it is essential to ensure pets live happy and healthy lives while also protecting the local wildlife.

The Shire's Old School and Town Hall Project aims to explore opportunities for preservation, improvement and new uses that meet the needs of today while respecting the heritage of these sites.

At its August meeting, Boddington Shire Council approved a Business Assistance Grant of $555 to local business SH and JE Maddern Family Trust, trading as The Sheds at 7 Assay Terrace.

This year, the Shire Budget will be adopted later than usual, with adoption planned for the end of October 2025. This delay is due to the lengthy process for the determination of property valuations by external departments. Rates notices will be sent out in early November.

The Boddington Swimming Pool will reopen for the 2025-26 season at 1 pm on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.

The new shelter for the Old Roller display is now complete. The shelter was designed to complement the historic Road Board Building.

The Shire of Boddington was proud to deliver the 2025 Boddington Career Expo in partnership with the Boddington Community Resource Centre and Newmont Boddington Gold.

A treatment for black beetle infestation will be applied to the Old School oval on Wednesday, 10 September 2025. The treatment is in granular form, and will be watered in immediately after application.

Council endorsed submissions to PoweringWA on its Draft Community Benefits Framework for renewable energy projects at the August Special Council meeting. The Shire of Boddington, along with 31 other local governments, called for stronger protections for host communities, including enforceable agreements, clearer benefit values, and inclusion of battery storage.

The Shire is currently engaged in a re-vegetation and landscaping initiative at Hotham Park. This project includes planting a variety of native plants, restoring degraded areas, and creating and maintaining green spaces to support local wildlife and promote a sustainable ecosystem.

Planning is progressing well for the installation of the dump truck display on the Old School Oval. The Shire is working with Newmont on the engineering details for the concrete slab and surrounds, which will guide the next stage of construction. Landscaping concepts are also being refined to create an attractive and low-maintenance setting around the display.

Council has endorsed a submission to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) regarding Alcoa’s revised Pinjarra Alumina Refinery proposal and Bauxite Mining Operations in the Darling Range (2023–2027).

The Shire is beginning an exciting project to plan the future of two of our most significant community spaces, the Old School site, and the Town Hall. Both places have a rich history in Boddington and remain central to our community identity. This project will explore opportunities for preservation, improvement and new uses that meet the needs of today while respecting their heritage. Community voices will be central to shaping the vision and guiding decisions about these important sites.

The Shire of Boddington invites expressions of interest from qualified and experienced professionals to serve as the Independent Presiding Member and Independent Deputy Presiding Member of the Shire’s Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.

The Boddington Youth Centre is a safe and supervised space for young people aged 10 to 17. The program provides young people with an opportunity to hang out, develop life skills, support their mental wellbeing, encourage physical activity, and participate in fun and engaging experiences. Most programs are free and take place at the Youth Centre, unless otherwise stated.

Apex Envirocare has initiated dredging along the Hotham River, with the extracted sediment pumped to the Laydown Area behind the Pool Centre. To date, one Geotube has been deployed, accommodating around 300 cubic meters of sediment.

Treebate is a new program offering any Western Australian over 18 a $150 rebate for planting a native tree on their private property. The program aims to improve the quantity and quality of green spaces across our State.

A new water fountain has been installed at the courts area of the recreation centre. The fountain will provide water for all visitors, ensuring that athletes and spectators alike can stay hydrated during sporting activities.

Boddington Swimming Pool will be hosting the VacSwim January 1 Program. This program is a 9-day series with 40-minute lessons.

The Expo offers students the opportunity to explore local industries, education, and training pathways through interactive activities, career discussions, and networking with representatives from businesses, universities, and training providers. Around 400 students from across the region are expected to attend.
