Electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicle owners are now required to fit a blue EV or yellow H label to help emergency services respond safely in the event of an incident.
This requirement applies to electric, hybrid or hydrogen vehicles manufactured or modified from 1 January 2019. However, all owners are encouraged to install the labels as an important safety measure that supports and protects emergency services personnel.
Labels are available online and from auto accessories retailers starting from $10. Vehicle owners must display the new labels by 1 January 2027. After this date, fines may apply if the appropriate label is not displayed.
