Aboriginal Reference Group

The Shire is excited to announce the formation of an Aboriginal Reference Group following a Council decision in February to initiate a dedicated mechanism for communication with the local Aboriginal community . This Group will provide crucial insights for decision-makers on matters affecting the Aboriginal people, facilitate cultural recognition projects, and provide a first point of contact for the Shire on cultural matters. Nominations are now being accepted from the Aboriginal community to be a part of this Group.

The Shire of Boddington is pleased to announce the successful installation and commissioning of its new EV Chargers. The chargers have been strategically placed in Boddington’s town centre for enhanced accessibility, one is positioned at 39 Bannister Road, while the other is situated at 61 Bannister Road.

On 17 February, 2024, the Boddington community celebrated the launch of BoddFit, a new 24/7 fitness hub situated in the renovated Old Pavilion on Club Drive. The opening event highlighted Boddington's dedication to building a healthier community, drawing a positive turnout.

Pollard Street Temporary Closure

On Friday, 16 February 2024, Pollard Street will be temporarily closed from 9 am to 1:30 pm. This closure will allow the completion of drainage upgrades, in line with the priorities outlined in the Shires Drainage Plan. To navigate around the affected area, detours will be in place. The Day Care Centre & School remain accessible.

William Street Crossing Progression

William Street Crossing is temporarily closed to all traffic and will continue to be closed until 21 February 2024. This closure is integral to ongoing efforts to enhance critical infrastructure, encompassing concreting the crossing surface, strategically placing armour rock on the upstream and downstream sides, and undertaking necessary renovations to improve guardrails.

The Shire has received a proposal from Aboriginal Elder Greg Thorn, to consider the installation of a Yarning Circle within the Hotham River Foreshore Precinct, adjacent to the RV Parking area. The Yarning Circle is proposed to be a community asset and tourism attraction, telling the story of the Aboriginal culture, people, and their place.
