A smoking ceremony was performed to respectfully commence the works, and dredging was carried out in an environmentally and culturally appropriate manner. Sediment has been disposed of at an approved facility for treatment and reuse. The laydown area has now been cleared and returned to the Shire in excellent condition, marking the end of this important community project.

Christmas 2025 was not what many of us were expecting. For families in Boddington, it was a time marked by uncertainty, disruption and distress, rather than rest and celebration. I want to begin by acknowledging how deeply challenging this period has been for those who were impacted by the recent fires. I know that for some residents this meant evacuations, interrupted family gatherings and the emotional strain of spending Christmas under threat. My thoughts are with everyone who was affected, particularly those who continue to deal with loss and recovery.
