The Boddington Community Yarning Circle project has reached an important milestone, with the detailed design now finalised following acceptance by the Aboriginal Reference Group. The endorsed design reflects extensive cultural input, with a strong focus on creating a space for learning, storytelling, gathering and cultural recognition.

More than 30 people attended the recent Boddington Business After Hours event, hosted at the Double Shot Café, with attendees enjoying fabulous food and a welcoming atmosphere. The evening featured a presentation by Tania Dawson, who shared valuable insights from a Boddington business perspective into the lived experience of applying for a Peel Business Award. Greg Hire from A Stitch in Time also presented, offering practical and thoughtful tips on health and wellbeing from a business owner’s perspective.

Construction of the Marradong Cemetery niche wall was completed on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Both single and double niche plots are now available for reservation.

Upgrades to the Quindanning non-potable standpipe are now complete. The facility has transitioned to a swipe card system to provide easy and efficient access to water.

The Native Plant Subsidy and Backyard Tree Planting Program has been delivered successfully, with strong interest and participation from the community.

The Shire of Boddington invites Expressions of Interest from experienced hospitality operators for a lease opportunity within the Hotham Park Precinct. Conveniently located within the Boddington Library and Visitor Centre building, the site serves library users, park visitors, tourists and the wider community.

The Dump Truck Display Project at the Old School Oval is progressing, with site works complete, including construction and curing of the engineered concrete mounting slab.

Plant collection for Stream 2: Backyard Tree Planting Program will take place this Saturday. Eligible households within the Shire of Boddington can collect one or two native trees at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees should be planted in suitable locations, either in the front or back yard.

The Boddington Library offers a range of activities for all ages. Community members are encouraged to explore the program and take part in upcoming events.

The Shire of Boddington is seeking submissions from the Community for items to be considered for inclusion in the 2026/27 annual budget. A new lighting system has been installed in Hotham Park, bringing colour and vibrancy to the area after dark. The system highlights key features, such as pathways and natural landscapes, while creating a welcoming atmosphere for evening visitors.

The Shire's cleaning team encountered a snake inside the Hotham Park toilet block on the morning of Monday, 9 March 2026. The snake was safely contained and relocated to a more suitable natural environment. This incident serves as a timely reminder for community members to remain vigilant when outdoors, particularly during warmer weather when wildlife is more active. Being aware of your surroundings can help ensure the safety of both people and native animals.

The Native Plant Subsidy and Backyard Tree Planting Initiative aims to increase native vegetation and boost shade canopy across the Shire of Boddington through voluntary participation from residents and landholders. The Shire has experienced significant loss of native vegetation due to historical land clearing, agricultural practices and mining activities. Leading to habitat fragmentation, reduced biodiversity, land degradation, declining landscape resilience and a lack of natural shade in many areas.
