Start the day off with a FREE community breakfast and celebrate the incredible achievements of Boddington’s local community members at the Australia Day Awards Ceremony at the Rodeo Grounds.

The “Stronger Together: A Community Book of Gratitude and Resilience from the 2025 Boddington Fire” has been introduced to capture the care, strength and generosity shown during the 2025 Boddington bushfire.

Several common questions came up throughout and following the recent bushfire. Some of these questions included:

Tullis Rail Trail is closed until further notice while assessments are carried out following the recent bushfire. Please avoid the area until the trail has been inspected and declared safe.

The Shire encourages all community members to reassess their existing emergency plan or create one if they do not have one in place. Recent events remind us of the importance of being ready.

St John's Boddington need Community Transport Volunteers. Community Transport Volunteers are more than drivers, they are a link between the people in Boddington, their community and essential services.

It is normal to experience stress, anxiety or delayed emotional reactions after a traumatic event like a bushfire. Support is available, and reaching out early can make a real difference.

Works have commenced on the new dual-use footpath linking Hotham Park to Ranford Pool. Contractors are currently undertaking earthworks and installing drainage infrastructure beneath the future pathway. Bulk earthworks are expected to begin within the next week, pending weather conditions.

A smoking ceremony was performed to respectfully commence the works, and dredging was carried out in an environmentally and culturally appropriate manner. Sediment has been disposed of at an approved facility for treatment and reuse. The laydown area has now been cleared and returned to the Shire in excellent condition, marking the end of this important community project.

Road remediation and safety works are ongoing across bushfire‑affected areas in Boddington. Shire teams continue to assess damage and complete necessary repairs to ensure all roads are safe for community use.

Following the recent bushfire, residents and visitors are reminded that burned trees can remain dangerous for some time. Trees and large limbs may continue to burn internally for days or weeks after a fire. This can weaken their structure and cause a sudden limb to drop or a tree to fail without warning.

Resurfacing and drainage upgrades will take place at two locations between Wednesday 29 January and Thursday 30 January, subject to weather conditions.

Christmas 2025 was not what many of us were expecting. For families in Boddington, it was a time marked by uncertainty, disruption and distress, rather than rest and celebration. I want to begin by acknowledging how deeply challenging this period has been for those who were impacted by the recent fires. I know that for some residents this meant evacuations, interrupted family gatherings and the emotional strain of spending Christmas under threat. My thoughts are with everyone who was affected, particularly those who continue to deal with loss and recovery.

The outstanding efforts of hundreds of firefighters have enabled the Western Australian Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) to hand control of the Newmont Gold Mine fire at Boddington back to local authorities and landowners.

A fantastic time was had at the Boddington Community Christmas Celebration, held on Friday, 5 December 2025, at Hotham Park. Presented by the Shire of Boddington, the much-loved annual event attracted more than 320 people, creating a vibrant atmosphere for families and friends to relax, enjoy great food, and catch up ahead of the summer holidays.

There will be no changes to the collections within the Shire during the week of Christmas 2025. Bins will be collected as normal.

A treatment for Chilli Thrips infestation is being applied to the rose bushes throughout the Boddington town centre.

The Shire invites Boddington youth to the End-of-Year Christmas Celebration, marking the conclusion of the 2025 Youth Centre program. Enjoy an afternoon of festive activities, food, music, games, and an opportunity to celebrate the year together.

The roof replacement at the Old Roads Board Building is now complete. This work has enhanced the condition and safety of the roof, ensuring the protection of this key community facility for the future. While contractors were on site, there were some disruptions, and the Shire appreciates the BoddNews Group members for their patience and understanding during the project.

Support for local sport and recreation has been strengthened through approval of a Community Grant Program application submitted by the Boddington Golf Club. The grant will assist with replacing worn putting cups and holders to improve course quality for members and visitors.

Ongoing support for local primary healthcare has been reinforced through the approval of continued housing arrangements for the General Practitioner servicing the Boddington Medical Centre. Council decisions in October and November have supported accommodation for 2 Registrars to continue servicing Boddington in 2026.

A development application for external upgrades to the commercial property at 53 Bannister Road has been approved, paving the way for a refreshed appearance at this prominent town centre site.
