Have Your Say - Mountain Bike Trails Draft Plan

Published on Wednesday, 17 May 2023 at 1:27:52 PM

The draft Concept Plans for the Boddington Mountain Bike Trail Project are now ready for community review and comment, following development of the Plan in consultation with the Mountain Bike Trail Project Reference Group. The Shire is seeking comments from the community in relation to this proposal on Williams Reserve which will ultimately provide over 20km of beginner through to advanced trails.

The Williams Reserve is an ideal location for Mountain Bike Trails, as the site is easily accessible from the Boddington Town Centre and offers a landscape for trail users of multiple skill competencies. The proposed trail network will offer riders an experience that is complementary to, but different to that offered in the nearby town of Dwellingup.

The Draft Concept Includes:

  • 5.8km of Easy Grade Trails
  • 11.57km of Moderate Grade Trails
  • 1.24km of Difficult Grade Trails
  • Walk, climb and descent elements
  • Primary Trailhead with facilities and informal parking.

The Williams Reserve Trail Network is intended to cater for both the community, destination trail users and trail users while on holidays. In terms of the mountain bike cohorts the terrain available is best suited to a trail network that caters to leisure and enthusiasts.Trail styles will vary from accessible easy trails to purpose designed trails with technical trail features.

Trail types best suited to the terrain include cross country (XC) mountain bike trails and park style trails. The terrain also lends itself to adaptive cycle suitable trails. The primary focus of this project is the provision of trails for recreational riding, however, the network design also considers potential for cross country event use and opportunities for concurrent recreation use while events are taking place.
