Funding Secured for Community Emergency Services Manager

Published on Tuesday, 4 August 2026 at 3:33:00 PM

Emergency services across Boddington are set to receive a significant boost, with funding secured for a shared Community Emergency Services Manager (CESM) position between the Shires of Boddington and Wandering.

The successful application follows the State Government's recent commitment to expand the CESM program across regional Western Australia. After assessing community risk profiles and existing emergency management arrangements, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) allocated one of the new positions to the Boddington and Wandering districts.

The new CESM will play an important role in strengthening local emergency management capabilities, providing dedicated support to volunteer bush fire brigades and emergency services personnel. The position will assist with emergency preparedness, training coordination, operational planning, compliance requirements and communication between local emergency services and government agencies.

Securing a CESM represents a positive outcome for both communities and recognises the importance of ensuring local volunteers have access to professional support and resources. The role will help strengthen emergency response arrangements, improve coordination during incidents and support ongoing community resilience in the face of natural hazards and emergencies.

Work is now underway with DFES to finalise implementation arrangements, with recruitment for the position underway. More information will be shared with the community as the recruitment process progresses.
