The Boddington Seniors Week Expo, held on Thursday, 13 November 2025, welcomed around 70 community members for a day dedicated to celebrating and supporting Boddington's seniors. The event featured a variety of stalls from Boddington Active Ageing Network organisations, and showcased local services available to assist older residents.
The day began with a warm welcome from Shire President Eugene Smalberger, followed by a beautiful performance from the Boddington District High School Choir. Shire CEO Julie Burton provided an update on the upcoming aged care facility and introduced Stuart Manifold, representing Barbara Macleod, Director of Small Long Term Care Homes. Barbara’s application was selected to develop an innovative 48-bed aged care facility based on the Green House Model, located within the hospital precinct.
Stuart delivered a heartfelt presentation, sharing his personal story and passion for aged care. Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by the Boddington Diner, followed by a lively “Guess That Song” quiz featuring classic hits from the 1950s–70s.
Special thanks to the Quindanning Boddington CWA for donating a cookbook as a door prize and the Boddington Progress Group for providing six tickets to Theatre 180’s "Taking Liberty", celebrating the 1983 America’s Cup.
The Seniors Week Expo was proudly presented by the Boddington Active Ageing Network, including the Shire of Boddington, Boddington Community Resource Centre, Quindanning Boddington CWA, Boddington Lions Club, Boddington Arts Council, Boddington District High School P&C, Stay Active and Strength for Life (Access Life Health and Fitness), and the Boddington Men’s Shed. Advocare, the Department of Communities, and Lotterywest funded the event.
