The Shire of Boddington is proud to acknowledge the outstanding service and dedication of local Bush Fire Brigade volunteer Captain Paul Lloyd, who was nominated for the WAFES Murray Lang Bushfire Service Award.
This award is the highest individual honour a Bush Fire Service volunteer can receive and recognises those who go above and beyond in service to their brigade and community.
On Christmas Day, while many were celebrating with family and friends, Paul answered the call when a significant bushfire threatened the Boddington area. Putting personal plans aside, he coordinated volunteer crews and helped lead firefighting operations to protect lives, property and livestock during challenging conditions.
Despite extensive impacts to one of the farms under his management, Paul remained committed to the response effort, continuing to monitor and support firefighting operations well beyond the initial emergency. His leadership, resilience and dedication exemplify the spirit of volunteer service that helps keep the community safe.
While the award ultimately went elsewhere, the Boddington community benefits every day from the commitment of volunteers like Paul and the many members of local Bush Fire Brigades. Their willingness to step forward when needed, often at significant personal sacrifice, makes a lasting difference to the safety and wellbeing of the community.
The Shire congratulates Paul on this well-deserved recognition and extends its thanks to all Bush Fire Brigade volunteers for their ongoing service and dedication.'
