A significant step forward has been taken in addressing the aged care needs of the community, with Council formally endorsing Carealot Home Health Services Pty Ltd, trading as Small Long Term Care Homes, as the preferred provider for the proposed Residential Aged Care Facility in Boddington.

This decision marks a major milestone in the Shire’s long-standing commitment to supporting its ageing population. The project now moves into the co-design phase, where Carealot will work in partnership with the Shire to develop detailed plans for the facility’s design, sustainable workforce strategy, and service delivery model. This phase is expected to be completed by December 2025.

Importantly, Carealot’s proposed approach is based on the Green House model of care. This proven, person-centred approach prioritises smaller, home-like environments, high staff-to-resident ratios, and strong relationships between caregivers and residents. This model represents a shift away from institutional-style aged care, instead focusing on dignity, autonomy, and meaningful engagement in daily life.

The future facility, to be located within the hospital precinct, will include a minimum of 45 residential aged care places. It aims to meet the growing demand for local aged care options, enabling residents to remain close to family, friends, and lifelong networks.

The endorsement of Carealot follows extensive planning, consultation, and a formal Request for Proposal process. Carealot was selected based on its strong alignment with the community’s values, the project’s objectives, and its demonstrated capacity to deliver both care quality and infrastructure investment.

Council’s decision is a vital step in delivering a much-needed community facility and reflects the Shire’s strategic vision to foster an inclusive, healthy, and supportive environment for all residents.
