Published on Tuesday, 28 April 2026 at 2:54:00 PM

The Native Plant Subsidy and Backyard Tree Planting Program has been delivered successfully, with strong interest and participation from the community.

The Stream 1 Native Plant Subsidy received a total of 76 Expressions of Interest. In response to the high level of demand, the Shire increased the original allocation from 18 trays, equivalent to 1,152 plants, to 46 trays, totalling 2,944 native plants. These plants were distributed to local landholders to support revegetation, enhance biodiversity, and improve shade canopy across private properties.

The Stream 2 Backyard Tree Planting Program also recorded strong participation, with residents collecting a total of 96 native plants.

Participants who collected plants under Stream 1 are reminded to return the black plant crates to the Shire office at 39 Bannister Road by 4.00 pm on Monday, 4 May 2026.

As this was the inaugural year of the program, the Shire welcomes community feedback to help inform potential future rounds. All residents are encouraged to share their feedback here

The Shire would like to thank the Peel Harvey Catchment Council, Friends of Reserve, Boddington Men’s Shed, and Boddington RRR for their support in delivering the program
