National Simultaneous Story Time

On Wednesday, 21 May 2025, the Boddington Library was filled with laughter and creativity as children participated in the National Simultaneous Story Time (NSS) event. The young audience was captivated by the reading of "The Truck Cat," a delightful book by Deborah Frenkell and Danny Snell.

Following the storytelling, children enjoyed craft activities, including creating colourful trucks with pasted fruit and vegetables, and making pop stick puppets of their favourite characters from the story.

NSS, now in its 25th year, is a vibrant initiative organised annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Each year, a selected picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously across libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, and homes throughout the country. The event promotes the importance of reading and literacy while engaging children through age-appropriate themes aligned with the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

We can’t wait to see which wonderful book gets selected for the 2026 event!
