At the September meeting, Council supported a suite of community-led projects proposed by the Boddington Town Team, aimed at activating and beautifying the town centre.

The Town Team is a group of volunteers, including residents, businesses, and community members, that has developed initiatives to enhance public spaces, foster community pride, and encourage town-wide engagement.

The proposed projects include a variety of enhancements such as new seating areas, decorative concrete stools, murals, pavement games, laneway lighting, directional signage, wayfinding sculptures, and a native garden featuring bush tucker plantings. Many of these initiatives are low-cost and volunteer-led, enabling immediate visual impact while promoting sustainability and community involvement.

Each project will undergo a detailed review by Shire staff to ensure safety, compliance with regulations, and the appropriate maintenance arrangements. By supporting these initiatives, the Town Team can confidently progress planning and mobilise volunteers.

The Town Team approach is part of a growing international movement of community-driven placemaking groups. It focuses on collaboration, creativity, and quick wins that improve local spaces while building long-term community connections.
