More than 100 local children levelled up their skills, confidence and coordination during the July school holidays through a highly successful gymnastics program delivered by Gymnastics WA.
The program featured four professionally run sessions held on 6 and 13 July, attracting 105 children aged between two and 16 years. Participants enjoyed a fun and energetic blend of gymnastics, movement to music and balance-based activities, with the rings and horizontal bar emerging as clear favourites. Children enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to swing, hang, climb and challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
Throughout the sessions, ribbons twirled through the air, stretches improved flexibility, and budding gymnasts worked hard to perfect their cartwheels. The simple joy of hanging upside down and swinging from the rings sparked plenty of laughter and smiles, creating a vibrant atmosphere that kept children engaged from start to finish.
Each participant received a complimentary drink bottle and was treated to fruit and muesli bars following their session, helping to round out a fun and active day.
Community feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with all completed surveys recording a 100 per cent satisfaction rating. Parents praised the program and expressed strong interest in seeing gymnastics opportunities continue locally.
The enthusiastic response has highlighted significant demand for a permanent gymnastics offering in Boddington. The Shire is working closely with Gymnastics WA to explore establishing a club locally.
