Beware of Falling Trees

Published on Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 2:48:32 PM

Following the recent bushfire, residents and visitors are reminded that burned trees can remain dangerous for some time. Trees and large limbs may continue to burn internally for days or weeks after a fire. This can weaken their structure and cause a sudden limb to drop or a tree to fail without warning.

All community members are encouraged to exercise caution when travelling near or through a fire‑affected area. Avoid stopping or parking under damaged trees, limit unnecessary access to burned areas, and follow all road closures and speed restrictions currently in place.

Reporting a fallen tree:

  • If a tree is blocking a road or footpath, or poses an immediate safety risk, please alert the Shire by phone immediately on 08 9883 4999.
  • For all other fallen tree reports, please submit via the Shire's online form here

Thank you for continuing to help keep the community safe.
