Marradong Road Board Office (Bodd News Building) |
In preparation for the town of Boddington, the new Road Board Office was planned for Johnstone Street, conveniently located next to the Town Hall. Boddington was chosen instead of Marradong because of the railway line.
The Road Board Office was built using small red bricks, with a corrugated iron roof and timber weatherboards that created a suspended veranda area. The first meeting in this new facility took place on Saturday, 4 July 1925.
The name Marradong Road Board changed to the Shire of Boddington in 1961. Use of the old Road Board Office ceased after the new Shire Offices on Bannister Road opened in 1965.
Please join us in commemorating the evolution and significance of the Road Board Office. We look forward to seeing you there!
