Central Park Enhancement

The Town Centre Revitalisation Masterplan released in 2023 highlighted some potential improvements to Central Park location.

The Shire sought community input on the plans to enhance Central Park and gather information on how the community would like to see the future use of this space. Feedback was collected online and in person from Tuesday, 18 February 2025 until Monday, 3 March 2025, with a community stall hosted outside the IGA on Friday, 21 February from 2-4pm.

Community feedback on the proposed enhancements guided the development of the draft designs for Central Park. The draft design was developed to increase usability and comfort at the park. The draft designs were open for community feedback from Tuesday, 13 May 2025 until Thursday, 22 May 2025. Community members were encouraged to provide feedback online at the Shire website or in-person at the Shire Administration Office or Boddington Library.

The draft concept designs for Central Park were adopted by Council at the May Council Meeting. This marked a major milestone in the delivery of the Town Centre Revitalisation Masterplan. The transformation of Central Park is set to not only enhance everyday community use but also strengthen Boddington’s appeal as a welcoming and vibrant destination.

Improvements will boost shade, play, and accessibility with:

  • A reconfigured playground and upgraded shaded seating areas
  • Realigned pathways to improve flow and visibility
  • Accessible drinking fountain and bird waterer
  • Retention of iconic features, including the wishing well and ‘Miners’ artwork.

These designs have been shaped by public feedback and workshops, including an online survey, local engagement events, and discussions led by Councillors.

This exciting project is proudly supported through a combination of Federal Growing Regions Funding, Lotterywest, and municipal contributions. Construction is expected to be complete by Monday, 30 June 2026.
