Interpretive Centre Enhancement Project (Closed)

The Boddington Interpretive Centre opened in 2018 and is co-located with the Boddington Library, as well as a Café, which collectively is signposted as the Boddington Visitor Centre.
The Boddington Visitor Centre integrates with the neighbouring Hotham Park which opened in 2020 following redevelopment and is now a destination comprising a nature playground, skate park, pump track and improved linkages to Hotham River.
Enhancing the Boddington Interpretive Centre has recently been identified as a key action to compliment the appeal of Hotham Park. The project includes the current floor space of the Boddington Interpretive Centre, as well as the entrance to the Boddington Library in anticipation of providing a 7 day per week visitor information point.
Why is this project taking place?
The need to undertake this project is driven by:
- Community interest in enhancing the Boddington Interpretive Centre as outlined in the Council Plan 2023-32.
- Increasing visitor numbers requiring more comprehensive visitor information servicing available 7 days per week.
- Opportunities to facilitate a state-of-the-art experience to showcase what to see and do in Boddington.
- Create a more inviting, appealing, and attractive space that is representative of Boddington.
The Shire of Boddington facilitated a Community Planning Session in August 2023. Ideas and feedback from the session has informed the Concept Plan.
What's Next?
The Boddington Progress Group Inc. has been authorised by Council to progress this project, following Council endorsement of a draft design for the Centre. The draft design is available to view here.
The enhancement is expected to be complete by December 2024.
