About the Project
The Boddington Swimming Pool is an important community recreation facility that supports aquatic recreation, learn-to-swim programs, swimming club activities, family use and community wellbeing during the summer season.
The Shire has prepared the Boddington Swimming Pool Enhancement Plan 2026–2036 to guide future improvements to the facility over the next 10 years. The plan provides a staged approach to improving the Swimming Pool precinct, with a focus on usability, safety, security, amenity and long-term planning.
The project does not propose a full redevelopment of the Swimming Pool at this stage. Instead, it sets out practical improvements that can be considered progressively through future budget processes.
Why is this project taking place?
The project is being progressed as part of the Shire’s Council Plan Action: 2.2.1 Prepare an enhancement plan for the Boddington Swimming Pool.
In 2024, the Shire established a Swimming Pool Community Reference Group to provide input into future improvement opportunities for the facility. The group identified a range of opportunities, including increased grassed areas, improved shade, lighting, BBQ facilities, solar heating upgrades, splash pad facilities and integration with the Boddington Caravan Park.
The preferred direction was to retain the existing Swimming Pool in its current location and improve the precinct through a staged approach.
The Enhancement Plan has now been prepared to bring these ideas together into a coordinated 10-year framework. This will help guide future planning, budgeting and decision-making for the facility.
How will implementation happen?
The Enhancement Plan is structured into three delivery stages over the 2026–2036 period. Each stage groups related improvements into a practical sequence, with future works subject to detailed design, budget consideration and Council approval.
- Stage 1: Short-Term Improvements | 2026–2029
Stage 1 focuses on immediate improvements to the Swimming Pool precinct. Proposed works include expansion of the grassed recreation area, fencing and landscaping improvements, solar heating, CCTV and additional storage.
- Stage 2: Medium-Term Improvements | 2029–2033
Stage 2 focuses on broader amenity and capacity improvements. Proposed works include site lighting, additional shade structures, carpark upgrades and artwork to improve the presentation and character of the facility.
- Stage 3: Long-Term Planning | 2033–2036
Stage 3 focuses on future planning for the Swimming Pool infrastructure. This includes a structural assessment of the pool to help inform future renewal, redevelopment or major investment decisions.
