Medical Transport Support for Residents

The Shire of Boddington has agreed to formally participate in the Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS). CATS is a regional volunteer transport service, coordinated through the Shire of Narrogin. It supports people from Narrogin and surrounding communities who are unable to travel independently for specialist medical care. The service can provide pick up from towns along the travel route, including Boddington, subject to availability.

While this service has already been available to Boddington residents, the Shire had previously not been asked to participate in ongoing governance and support. The Shire of Narrogin has now invited Boddington and other neighbouring local governments to participate, helping to strengthen the long-term sustainability of the service and recognising the benefits to residents throughout the region.

Importantly, CATS is not replacing the valued local community transport service provided by St John in Boddington. It is an additional option for residents, particularly when appointment timing, destination, availability or individual circumstances may differ.

Supporting seniors is a key priority for Council, and access to health services is vital to helping people remain connected, independent and supported in their own community.
