A major milestone in the Boddington Mountain Bike Park project has been reached, with approval received for the Clearing Permit required for construction. Construction of the trail network is scheduled to commence in September, and the Shire has begun upgrading access roads and parking areas to support upcoming works.

The project has been supported by funding from the Peel Development Commission under the Commonwealth's Priority Community Infrastructure Program, with $959,947 allocated to the Boddington Mountain Bike Trails as part of the broader Peel Regional Trails initiative.

The planned network will deliver approximately 22 kilometres of purpose-built mountain bike trails catering to a range of rider abilities. The trails are expected to attract visitors from across Western Australia, creating new recreation, tourism and economic opportunities for Boddington and the wider region.

Achieving this milestone required years of planning, consultation and assessment to ensure the project is delivered responsibly and respectfully. The approval process included engagement with Traditional Owners, ethnographic and archaeological surveys, detailed flora and vegetation assessments, targeted fauna studies, Aboriginal heritage approvals, and investigations into threatened species.

The Clearing Permit approval required collaboration between government agencies, Traditional Owners, environmental specialists and the Shire, paving the way for construction to begin.

Boddington Mountain Bike Trails are set to become a major recreation and tourism asset for both the local community and visitors to the Peel region.

Further updates will be provided as work progresses.
