Council Supports Fairer Renewable Energy Benefits

Council endorsed submissions to PoweringWA on its Draft Community Benefits Framework for renewable energy projects at the August Special Council meeting. The Shire of Boddington, along with 31 other local governments, called for stronger protections for host communities, including enforceable agreements, clearer benefit values, and inclusion of battery storage. The submissions stress that benefit sharing should be standard practice, not optional, and must fairly reflect the long-term impacts on regional areas. Council supports measures that ensure local communities are recognised, compensated, and supported as the State transitions to clean energy.
