Boddington welcomed a vibrant crowd of more than 700 residents and visitors for the much‑anticipated South32 Summer by the River celebration on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The event drew a diverse community eager to enjoy an evening of entertainment to mark the end of summer.
Market stalls and food vendors filled the Hotham Park car park, creating a lively street festival atmosphere beneath warm festoon lighting. Guests relaxed on the grass of Hotham Park, enjoying the vibrancy of the event while taking in live performances at the amphitheatre overlooking the Hotham River. The stage featured Anna Schneider, The Milkmen, Angie Colman and The Satisfaction, providing the perfect soundtrack to a summer evening.
Children of all ages enjoyed free, unlimited activities, including bungee trampolines, inflatable obstacle courses, bouncy castles, face painting, a petting zoo, wheelchair basketball, arts and crafts, and a dedicated chill-out zone.
The event was warmly received by locals and visitors alike, with many families choosing to extend their stay at the Boddington Caravan Park for the weekend. The celebration also supported the Act Belong Commit principles by encouraging active lifestyles, stronger social connections and a sense of belonging to enhance community wellbeing.
The Shire extends its appreciation to everyone who attended and looks forward to welcoming the community back again in 2027. A tentative date for next year’s Summer by the River has been set for Saturday, 20 March 2027.
