Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Project

The Shire of Boddington has been successful in obtaining funding with Holyoake’s Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Project to build the capacity of community groups and service providers to enhance health and wellbeing in two at-risk groups. The project will encompass forming the Boddington Early Years Network, as well as the Boddington Active Ageing Network comprising of community groups and organisations with an active role in delivering programs and activities for these priority cohorts in Boddington. The Networks are envisioned to be two working groups undertaking a collaborative approach to ensure coordination of activities and programs to improve local participation of early years and older people.

The objective of the Networks include:

  • to establish a group of people from various sectors of the community who can work together on a regular basis to support early years and older people in Boddington.
  • to share knowledge, expertise, information and resources with members of the group to support continuous improvement and inform decision making.
  • to contribute to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of events and projects to support early years and older people.
  • to be recognised as the initial point of contact to discuss and coordinate responses to emerging needs and issues affecting early years within Boddington.

As a seed project, the Networks, facilitated by the Community Development team, will co-design events for Children’s Week in October 2022 and a Senior’s Week event in November 2022.

Expression of Interest – Broader Community Representation

While the Networks consist of representation from several community groups and organisations, both Networks will include two positions to represent general community and the Aboriginal community. Expressions of interest for these positions are now open, with a copy of the Terms of Reference and Expression of Interest Form available to download below. Expressions of Interest will be received on an ongoing basis until the positions are filled.
