Mural Installations (Closed)

The Town Centre Revitalisation project includes the permanent installation of Mural Art in Boddington's town centre. These artworks will contribute to an attractive streetscape, and vibrant town centre.

Community consultation was undertaken by the Shire to help determine the themes of these murals. With over 60 responses, the most popular choices included Local Flora and Fauna, Boddington's History, and Aboriginal Culture.

The Shire recruited five talented mural artists for the first three mural locations. These locations included:

  • Bannister Road Toilet Block
  • Boddington Fire Shed
  • Hotham Park Toilet Block

The community were invited to participate in three workshops, one per location, with the assigned artists to help capture the spirit of the community in the murals.

The 2024/25 budget announced the addition of one new mural on the west wall of the Library and Visitor Centre building. The murals theme, ‘Discover Boddington’, would celebrate the unique character, natural beauty, and rich heritage of the region. The community were invited to participate in feedback on the draft designs, which helped shape the final mural.

These murals stand as a testament to Boddington's rich heritage and vibrant community spirit, reflecting the collective creativity and participation of residents in mural surveys and workshops.

Boddington Fire Shed

The mural on the southern wall of the Boddington Fire Brigade Shed, created by Jacob Butler 'Shakey' with Joseph Boin, tells the story of Henry Boddington, a shepherd from the late 1800s.

Hotham Park Toilet Block

The mural in Hotham Park, by Imogen Palmer, Hayley Smith, and Susan Respinger, showcases local flora and fauna, including the Western Whistler and Scarlet Robin.

Bannister Road Toilet Block

The mural along Bannister Road, by Georgina Paterson, features native flowers and birds like the New Holland Honey Eater and Red-Tailed Cockatoo.

Visitor Centre and Library

The mural on the west side of the Boddington Visitor Centre and Library, by Jerome Davenport, encapsulated the theme “Discover Boddington”. The mural features the Tullis Bridge and highlights native species of flora and fauna including the red-tailed black cockatoo, the western quoll and the spider orchid.
