Did you get in on the action at the Boddington Youth Centre this past school holidays? The Youth Centre partnered with local community groups to keep young people engaged by learning valuable life skills and undertaking collaborative community projects, in a safe and welcoming environment. It’s been a great opportunity to connect young people with local expertise and engage the broader community to see the benefits of the Youth Centre first hand.

Some of the highlights of the holidays included undertaking bottle top art with Boddington RRR to create a Youth Centre sign, basket weaving using recycled materials with Boddington Eco Club, as well as woodwork with support from Boddington Women’s Shed and Boddington Men’s Shed. South32 Worsley Alumina also supported this year’s NAIDOC Week event with a free lunch of stew and damper, followed by natural arts and connection to culture activities. The Youth Centre values the volunteers, resources and time provided by these community groups and organisations.

During Term 3 the Youth Centre is open on Thursday from 3pm – 6pm for young people over 10 years, as well as on Friday from 3pm – 6pm for 10 years and above and 6pm – 8pm for high school students. Programs and activities are free (unless otherwise stated) and delivered in a supervised environment. For more information contact the Community Development team.
