Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Project

The Shire of Boddington has been successful in obtaining funding with Holyoake’s Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Project to build the capacity of community groups and service providers to enhance health and wellbeing in two at-risk groups. The project has encompassed forming the Boddington Early Years Network, as well as the Boddington Active Ageing Network, comprising of community groups and organisations with an active role in delivering programs and activities for the early years and older people in Boddington.

Both Networks met recently for the first time and have earmarked Children’s Week and Senior’s Week as seed projects to collaborate. The Children’s Week event is set for Wednesday, 26 October at Boddington Recreation Centre and will provide a fun-filled and informative morning for families with children aged 0-5 years. Following that, the Senior’s Week event on Wednesday, 9 November 2022 will comprise activities to strengthen connection and participation in community life.

The Networks are progressing the event planning behind-the-scenes with more information available soon. Following both events, it is envisioned the Networks will continue to meet to ensure coordination of early years and seniors activities and services in Boddington to support participation and connection.
