Over 90 community members including Shire Councillors and staff, Boddington Police, as well as staff, students and families from Boddington District High School came together for Walk Safely to School Day. The Shire of Boddington was successful with the National Road Safety Week grant with the Road Safety Commission and RAC to organise the event. The morning comprised a community breakfast catered by Our Bitchin Kitchen and an interactive safety presentation by Boddington Police in Hotham Park, before embarked on a walk to school as a whole of community public gesture of support and commitment to road safety.
The Shire of Boddington also partnered with Boddington District High School to allow each primary school class to listen to a safety presentation by RAC, while high school staff had opportunity to listen to road crash survivor Robert Pike. Robert shared an empowering story about how the choices student make each day (no matter how small) impact their lives. Students were encouraged to speak up to their friends and help each other make positive decisions.
