The Boddington Lions Club and Shire of Boddington held its annual Australia Day celebrations last week at the Boddington Rodeo Grounds and Boddington Swimming Pool.

The action started from 7.30am at the Rodeo Grounds with the annual community breakfast prepared by the Boddington Lions Club, Quindanning Boddington CWA and All Washed Up group. It was a great opportunity for family and friends to catch up and enjoy the live entertainment provided by the Australia Celtic band, followed by the Awards Ceremony.

Congratulations to the following recipients:

  • Senior Citizen of the Year – Mrs Heather Stevens,
  • Group of the Year – Boddington Arts Council – Field of Quilts
  • Community Citizen of the Year – Mrs Gabe Roberts
  • Youth Citizen of the Year – Beau and Kele Redhead
  • Certificate of Appreciation – Mrs Eugene Smalberger

Medals of appreciation were also presented to Greg Day and Brant Lehmann for their firefighting assistance provided in the eastern states.

From 1pm over 100 people cooled down for the Family Fun Day at the Boddington Swimming Pool to try the new pool inflatables, and enjoy a complimentary burger and ice cream among the company of family and friends.

The Shire of Boddington was successful in obtaining funding from the National Australia Day Council to increase activities this year to make the Australia Day celebrations a day to remember in a COVID-safe way.
