Exciting New Chapter for Hotham Park Café

The Shire is pleased to announce that Mr. Lee and Mr. Patel have been endorsed by the Council as the new operators of the café located within the Hotham Park precinct. This decision comes after a competitive Expressions of Interest (EOI) process that began in May 2025. The previous operator advised that they would cease trading when the existing lease ended on 21 July 2025.

Mr. Lee and Mr. Patel's proposal stood out among submissions for its strong alignment with the Shire’s vision to enhance visitor experiences and support local tourism. Their offering is designed to complement existing food and beverage options in town, broadening the variety available to both residents and visitors. They also plan to operate during extended hours, especially on weekends and peak visitation periods, helping to activate the park during high-traffic periods.

The lease arrangement includes a 1-year initial term beginning in August 2025, with two optional 1-year extensions.

The lease also reflects Council’s broader strategic goals under its Prosperity pillar, particularly its commitment to creating a high-quality destination for day-trippers and short-stay tourists.

In line with the Local Government Act 1995, the proposed lease will be advertised publicly. The lease will then be finalised and the café will open under new management in the coming weeks.

The Shire thanks all applicants who participated in the EOI process and looks forward to welcoming Mr. Lee and Mr. Patel as they bring new life and flavour to one of Boddington’s favourite community spaces.
