IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM WATER CORPORATION
Posted December 19, 2019 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM WATER CORPORATION

I am seeking your assistance to remind residents in your Shire that they cannot rely on public water supplies in the event of a bushfire. As you may be aware, while we make every effort to maintain supply, loss of electricity may cause pumps that transfer water to our storage tanks to fail, and we may not be able to respond to system failures in areas that are deemed by DFES or Western Power to be unsafe for our crews to enter. For those residents who choose to stay and defend their homes, it is imperative that they have an independent water supply as well as their own pumping capability.

HOW BUSHFIRE READY ARE YOU?
Posted December 2, 2019 HOW BUSHFIRE READY ARE YOU?

Ask yourself the same question again and answer it. With bushfire season, beginning earlier and finishing later with drier winters in between it is time to consider your fire preparedness and take time to develop your Bushfire Plan. This begins with a 5-minute fire chat with your family to developing a fire plan to determine if you are prepared to stay and defend and when you are prepared to leave. Unfortunately, too many lives are lost with people leaving it too late to escape being caught up in the fires. To stay and defend requires good planning and being physically, mentally and emotionally able to do so and having the right firefighting equipment available.

WATER SUPPLY IN A BUSHFIRE
Posted November 25, 2019 WATER SUPPLY IN A BUSHFIRE

If you plan to stay and defend your home you must have an INDEPENDENT water supply and pumping capability. Scheme water may not be available due to damaged infrastructure and cuts to electricity. Experience shows that when there is extreme demand water supply and pressure are at risk. Continued................................
