Hotham Park - Current Projects
Toddler Playground
Project Overview
Officially opened in March 2021, Hotham Park has become a must-see location for visitors to Boddington as well as providing a fantastic recreational asset for the local community. During consultation for the 2022 - 2032 Council Plan, the community identified the need for a toddler playground within the existing facility to cater for children aged 2+.
The Shire engaged original park architects Emerge Associates to design the new Toddler Playground, integrating the new construction into the theme of the existing nature playground.
Progress
The scope of the Toddler Playground project includes both the design and construction of the playground.
To ensure the design meets the needs of the local community, the Shire has initially consulted with the Boddington Early Years Network, staff and parents from the Boddington Early Learning Centre, as well as internal consultation with the Executive Management team.
Next Steps
Following this consultation, the feedback has been communicated to Emerge so the design can be refined, with the design aiming to be finalised by late February.
Construction of the playground is earmarked for April, subject to material and contractor availability.

Hotham Park Shade Sails
Project Overview
Ideally located on the banks of the Hotham River, Hotham Park is a highly frequented location within Boddington for visitors and families. Following consultation for the 2022 - 2032 Council Plan, the community identified that shade over Hotham Park was much needed to ensure that the playground can be enjoyed in the hot summer months.
The project scope includes both the design and construction of 8 shade sails within the park, providing shade coverage over the nature playground, swings and slide.
Progress
The shade sail design has now been finalised, with construction of the structure expected to be finalised by late April 2023.
