Peel Region Tourist Railway
Extension from Dwellingup to Boddington
The rebuilt Dwellingup to Boddington Railway will enable tours to operate on a dedicated tourist railway. The State Government as an election commitment allocated $1M to rebuild the railway from Dwellingup to Boddington to be made available in 2003/04.
It is proposed to commence the reconstruction of the Boddington to Tullis Bridge section of the railway first. The existing track will be cleared and re-sleepered. Tullis Bridge will be rebuilt with provision for a walkway. The Boddington Railway Station will be built on Shire owned land on the corner of Pollard Street and Wuraming Avenue and a platform will be constructed to service the Rodeo Grounds.
The track may continue past the station to a dead end, skirting the western side of the Caravan Park to enable sleeper carriages to be parked as required and integrate with the Park as additional accommodation. It is proposed to construct a walkway / boardwalk to connect the station with the existing dual use path along the Hotham River Foreshore at the Lions Weir. Work is expected to commence at the Boddington end late in 2003.
