CIVICS AND CITIZENSHIP WORKSHOPS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FORUMS

The Australia Day Council, with the support of the Office of Multicultural Interests is proud to offer people within your community from CALD (Cultural and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds the opportunity to participate in our Civics and Citizenship Workshops and Community Leadership Forums.

The Workshops, are delivered in partnership with The Constitutional Centre and Electoral Education Office and are a great way for members of the community to learn about the Australian Constitution; how the Australian parliamentary system works; how to vote; how to become a candidate for election, as well as getting involved in government decision making, Community leadership, and our roles and responsibilities as Australians based on our values we share.  Often the highlight of the workshops is hearing from a special guest speaker and member of our Inspiring Australians Network about their story and the benefits of community involvement and leadership. The Workshops are best suited to groups of about 25-30 and are quite interactive. They normally run for two hours and participants are invited to share in some light refreshments and networking throughout the session.

Our Forums are a little less interactive and better suited to groups of 30-40. They involve hearing from Ambassadors from Australia Day Council’s Inspiring Australians Network who share their stories and provide a more focussed perspective about community involvement and leadership. There is opportunity for a Q&A at the end and participants are invited to partake in some light refreshments and network before and after the session.

Having received overwhelming positive feedback from previous participants, we are excited to make this program more accessible within local communities.

If you are interested in attending the workshops and forums, please email ea@boddington.wa.gov.au or call the Shire 9883 4999 and provide your details to Tamsin If there is enough interest, these workshops and forums can then be arranged.
