Demolition of Buildings
A demolition license is required prior the demolition and removal of any structure.
Certain conditions apply such as the hours of the day that a building can be demolished.
If the building contains any asbestos product, very specific measures are required to ensure the health and safety of everyone is not compromised.
Private Swimming Pools
Private swimming pools require a building permit prior to their installation.
Pool fences are inspected every four years to ensure that they comply with the safety requirements. A swimming pool is defined as a structure that contains water deeper than 300mm, is used for swimming or similar activities and can be above or below ground.
Dividing Fences
Council has adopted a local law regarding fencing. Certain standards for dividing fences are set out and if a fence is to be built that does not meet the standard, Council permission is required. A copy of the local law is available on request.
Queries regarding dividing fences can be answered by the Principal Environmental Health Officer/Building Surveyor, although the Shire does not have any control over legal issues regarding dividing fences. More specific information can be sought from the Department of Local Government & Regional Development.
Town Planning
The Shire of Boddington utilises the services of a consultant planner (Steve Thompson). Steve usually attends the Shire of Tuesday and Wednesday and he can be contacted on planning@boddington.wa.gov.au or 9883 4999.
Appointments to see Steve regarding town planning matters should be made through the front office.
Applications to subdivide, amalgamate or amend the boundaries of land are made to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The WAPC typically refer applications to the Shire and other agencies for comment before making a decision. The contact details of the local WAPC office are as follows:
